IDEAS, a biennial event, through its synergy and broad spectrum, has made momentous stride to enhance the export of Pakistan’s nascent defence industries. The event provides a platform to bring both public and private sectors under one umbrella in the pursuit of export promotion.

Being custodian of the country’s maritime interests, Pakistan Navy continues to play its due role for safeguarding these interests. PN is a balanced force, capable of undertaking combat, constabulary and benign operations in our area of interest. The fleet is supported by an effective command, control, communications, logistics and training infrastructure. Pakistan Navy has the honour to offer high standard of dynamic training through various professional development courses for professional growth of the officers and CPO / Sailors from various allied countries. At present a large number of trainees from brotherly countries such as Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, Oman, Qatar, China, Turkey, South Africa, Sri-Lanka, Bangladesh, Yemen, Brunei, Sudan, Maldives, Nigeria, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Ghana, Iran, Turkmenistan, Libya, Palestine and United Arab Emirates are undergoing professional and academic courses at Pakistan.

IDEAS 2008 presents the display of our indigenous defence capabilities. Pakistan navy has made significant strides in the field of ship and submarine construction and modernization over the last decade. The indigenous development of Agosta 90-B Submarine, MPACs, Missile Boats, Minesweepers, Floating Docks, Tugs, Utility Baots, modernization of type-21s and future construction of 22-P Frigates is a major leap in our efforts towards self-reliance. Pakistan Navy has a dedicated team which has gathered significant expertise and infrastructure that would also enable us to fulfill the defence needs of other countries. The participation of about 500 delegates from more than 80 countries in IDEAS 2008 would reflect international confidence and interest in the potential and capabilities of our defence industry.
